"This is a great 2nd job because you select the hours you can tutor. Once you finish a student they typically have additional students available for you if you want them, so this part-time gig can last anywhere from 3-9 months. At $17 an hour there aren't a lot of other part-time positions that pay this and also offer the flexibility this job provides."

"They hired me when I really needed a job. A friend of mine referred me to this company. Training was quick and easy to follow. I had the opportunity to meet new friends and worked well with my supervisors. They listened to the suggestions we had during meetings and gave the info to the higher ups."

"I was hired as a tutor to work with underprivileged students with their math studies education. I didnt know that there are lots of students that need help in my community. Some of the students that I tutored have parents that cant speak or read English, therefore, making it difficult for them to help their own children. It was a great learning experience and very rewarding. I plan on returning next year."

"Ive read a lot of online reviews, some good, some bad. My experience has been pretty positive for the most part. At the end of the day its a job, no better, no worse than any other job out there. The advantages are it pays better than most, the hours are more flexible than most, and you dont have a boss breathing down your neck. The bad, you better have your paperwork 100% accurate, if not it could result in delays being paid."

"As a field representative, I attended a training orientation and received all the material needed to do my job. I was surprise as to how organized and prepared this company was. I was working for another provider and all they handed me was fliers and no direction as to where to go. I get a bonus every time I get a parent to sign up for free tutoring."

"Good pay for where I live. Thanks for being around."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"Higher pay than many of the other tutoring companies out there. They find you the clients and you schedule with the client the day/time, which I liked. Most of these tutoring companies work the pretty much the same way so choose a company that pays good and can get you a lot of students. So far Academic Advantage has been able to do this for me."

"I learned a lot from the experience and learned more about the city I live in."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"As a college student and living on my own, I needed something that was part time and could pay well. I came across an ad for this company and applied. I was pleased with the training and information I received. I got two handbooks that had lots of information from curriculum to completing paperwork. When I first contacted my students, I was afraid that the families were not going to understand my Spanish. Today, I feel that my Spanish has improved tremendously and working with these students was of great joy that will last a lifetime. Thank you, for the opportunity to tutor and make a difference. I am so happy that I could make a small contribution to help students and make a better image of life and future in their mind."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Brush up on your Spanish... it really helps out a lot."

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I plan on continuing to work with the company for this upcoming school."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"I truly enjoy tutoring. This will now be two years of working for this company; and helping out students that are really struggling in school; this is greater than anything so far in my life. I love doing this, and I thank God for giving me the gift of helping others. I hope I can continue for the upcoming school year."

"Continue improving on communication skills. Also, more samples of what you are looking for in terms of paperwork. I think I'm submitting something correctly but in the end I almost always do it wrong."

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"I didnt like the fact that at the beginning my fingerprints were delayed. The first time they told me that my fingerprints were not read correctly, and the second time they said that it was out of their control and they were just waiting for the prints to come back. I know it wasnt the companys fault but they should at least have the decency to inform their employee of the delay."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Better communication. It has definitely improved during my time with the company."

"Fun. educated. will do again."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"I was hired by them at the end of December to help underprivileged students with their education. I didnt know that there are lots of students that need help in my community. Some of the students that I tutored have parents that cant speak or read English, therefore, making it difficult for them to help their own children. This job has brought new insights to my way of looking at life. My experience was very enjoyable. I hope to return in the fall of 2013."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"Tutoring can only take place in the evenings, which worked well when I was off during the winter break. But when my school schedule changed, my sessions with my students had to change. I love consistency, so this kind of sucks because I had to reschedule all of my sessions with my students."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"More training on tutoring skills. I know what I know about the subjects but wouldn't mind additional training."

"Saved our monetary situation. I would recommend it to my friends."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"My husband recently lost his job and wasnt able to find something for over three months. He came across this tutoring job with The Academic Advantage and I told him to go for it. The pay was great and I we knew that it was something that was going to help us in the meantime. We are both happy with the outcome of the experience because he was able to set his own schedule. In the mornings he would go to interviews and in the evenings he would tutor. The kids that he tutored were all located in the same area and were practically a few houses down."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Really good chance to make extra income when you are in between jobs."

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"Great way to pay it forward. Excited to work with students again."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"Growing up I was lucky to have a tutor who could assist me with problems that I was having in school. I always felt embarrassed to ask questions and get the help that I really needed, and I am grateful my parents sacrificed so much so that I could succeed. When I saw the job posting to help students in the No Child Left Behind program, I felt like I was going to be able to pay it forward. After a phone interview, I was invited to train and went to the orientation in the LA Office. Walking to our orientation room, I was overwhelmed by how many people worked there, but over time I grew to appreciate and understand how much of an undertaking it is to be in the business that they are in. It is said it takes a village to raise a child, and it is true. One of my fifth graders could barely read when I met her. We worked on activities to increase her pacing and intonation, which took up most of her allotted hours. I almost cried when I realized how few books she had in her home, so that she could free read outside of tutoring."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be patient with the students. the interview is fairly easy. No need to worry about that."

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"The paperwork was time consuming, but wasn't difficult. I just wish that there was incentive for students doing paper based tutoring to successfully complete the hours that was paid for by the company. Other than that, I am very humbled by this experience and look forward to helping more students next year."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Provide more resources for the family. Some of the families really needed to know what was out there for them to help their kids."

"Enjoyed the time I worked with students and I plan on doing it again."

What do you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"I have worked for other tutoring companies in the past that treated me very well, and when my current job went out of business, I was worried about finding a company with a similar fit. By far this company provided me with the most thorough training, and the resources I need to do the job. They even gave me a compact computer with an internet connection that I could bring to my students homes to tutor them. Most impressive of all, is that my students will get a computer once they complete their tutoring!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do it! It's a chance to work with students in the community to improve their school work."

What don't you like about working at The Academic Advantage?

"I do my own schedule but it is limited to the family's availability."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"During orientation, please provide frequent breaks. I had to walk out several times to stretch."
