Working at Weatherford International in Houston, TX: 27 Employee Reviews

Manager

"Great technology in several product lines, good people in the trenches, uneven management skills and ability. Company carries a crushing debt load due to top management overemphasis on growth and not managing the business. Internal technology and operational processes are a mix of cutting edge and antique. While you can contribute across division lines, employee development and coaching is a spotty haphazard activity dependent more on a manager's belief than any company approach. Too many initiatives of the moment."

"Weatherford is good to work. Growth is dependent on your projects. Growth is dependent on experience. There is no focus on personal growth."

"I continue to grow within the company. Weatherford is going through a large reduction of their workforce. I'm currently supporting asset and inventory control teams that posted a record of 35 million dollars in assets recovery and redistribution."

"Off-shoring sweat shop. Don't bother (unless you're Indian)"

What do you like about working at Weatherford International?

"Nothing."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be Indian or from western Asian or don't bother - you won't get hired, unless it's for a customer-facing position,in which they'll hire Americans for certain parts of the country. Otherwise, you can phone-in the interview because the engineers there don't know much about anything."

What don't you like about working at Weatherford International?

"Total sweat shop. Nepotism runs throughout - Indians hiring only other Indians, and off shoring. No promotions, no raises, no reviews. Incompetent management without any knowledge of software engineering or project management given leadership roles simply because of their race. Avoid, avoid!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I won't bother - they didn't listen tot a thing I had to say during my five years there."
