"lack of industry experience in senior management. The senior management team has very little experience in the industry"

"Focus on the basic work then improve on that. There are basic needs of the customers that are being overlooked to focus on internal enhancements constantly"

"The winter was difficult, as I had to manage our deliveries without proper equipment (tire chains, snow tires, etc)."

"Nothing! The job held many opportunities and challenges daily; the personnel was outstanding."

"I believe there have been many changes to both the need of personnel and the products made."

What do you like about working at J.R. Simplot?
"There was little bureaucracy to accomplishing my tasks. My supervisor appreciated my hard work. Everyone at the company genuinely cared about the well-being of each other. Once all my tasks for the day were accomplished, my supervisor would allow me to leave for school (I was paid hourly, so I worked extra hard to get through community college and transfer to university)."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Basically, just be yourself. They're a 'salt of the earth' type of business. You don't have to put on a show."
What don't you like about working at J.R. Simplot?
"There was little room for advancement. I could have stepped into my supervisors role as warehouse manager for a meager pay increase. After that, there was only the regional logistics manager at the top of the ladder, and I thought I could do better. That's the same reason I left the Army."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I thought they did an excellent job and I appreciate them helping me to get through school. We still talk and and they're thrilled that I've graduated university. If they had a position in my field I would absolutely return to work for them."

"I get to manage over 50 employees, there's a satisfaction in knowing you are responsible for 50 people's well being at work."

"This is a learning experience that are both unorthodox and challenging at the same time."

"The lack of support from upper management and the culture they harbor that allows less than qualified employees to maintain employment."

"More compassion and less blame. More trust and less suspicion."

"There was no growth potential. It was a small company and it only had an owner."

"I have not suggestions for the managment. The owner did a great job."

"It was my first opportunity to be promoted into the ranks of management. For this reason, I am greatful. I enjoyed working with the teams of people who helped make the branch's successes during my tenure."

"As far as I know, they have gone downhill in terms of customer service. I wouldn't recommend anyone working for this company."
What don't you like about working at Gensco?
"Executive management didn't respect the mid-managers who made the branch's successful despite periods of no growth. This is why Gensco became a leader in the HVAC wholesale industry in the Northwest and Alaska"

"Reward the mid-managers with room to operate, not just in pay."

"I liked my co-workers and my salary. I liked the customers."

"The tip that I would have is that they should be prepared to deal with an unsupportive manager."

"I did not like the internal politics. The manager did not take care of the employees, he was only customer oriented. I would say he was only a manager and not a leader."

"The manager should take time to find out how his employees are doing and what they need to succeed at their job."
