"Middle management got there by time, not by true expertise. They were very lax about helping individuals advance to really utilize their talents."

"Start truly thinking about the middle management, their role, and how they can help each of their departments really excel."

"There are no REAL job descriptions. You have to know that you have to be able to think on your feet and execute on your own. If not, the job will not get done."

"Sometimes upper management makes business decisions that reveal that they don't know the business."

"They should know the people who work for them and what they do."

"I liked the product and the highly accepted delivery."

"Have lots of patience for the interview process. Prep for questions outside the required position and stay focused on the position vs. any questions outside that requirement."

"My dislikes were: micromanagement, non-growth, tunnel vision by many director level people, and disappointment of workers with many idiosyncrasies encountered with them where often it can be walking on 'eggshells' on a daily basis."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Drop the politics; drop the management overkill of requirements within the employee review process. It worked much better and less issues with informal reviews. Stick to clearly established company policies than changing policies on the fly after working X # of years and suddenly changing. Drop the micromanagement for EVERY task given. Hire better, FRIENDLY directors than just 'Axe men' or folks looking for negative. Drop the overkill of buzzwords/technologies and focus on good people/core foundation that made the company than assembly line philosophies."

"I like the perks! I like the atmosphere, the fast pace, and the industry. Also, the CEO is great."

"Talk with many people who worked in the division that you want. Get a complete perspective before accepting an offer. Some divisions are definitely better than others."

"Bosses can change a lot. There is lack of communication between groups, and it is very political."

"Get all the divisions rowing in the same direction as it pertains to internal operations."

"I like the nice, creative environment, great coworkers, and beautiful studio campus which is wonderful to work at (grass, trees, nice architecture)."

"Have your ducks in order, have a well polished resume, and do your homework on the job you're applying for. Bring enthusiasm and a genuine smile to the table during your interview!"

What don't you like about working at Walt Disney Company?

"I saw some inefficient use/waste of budget in a few departments. Once a department had one bad apple manager (tyrant or didn't know their job or didn't have managing experience), those same managers would hire similar types. Pay - Disney doesn't have to pay competitively since everyone wants to work there. (It's very tough to get in! HR receives over 700 resumes for each job position, per HR). I did not have a bad experience at Disney, but these were my observations of things happening around us."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I'd remind them to interview carefully and ask the right questions, or look around them to promote from within. Hire hard working people with a true work ethic and good people skills. Make sure management is put in place who knows how to MANAGE and knows how to gain the trust and respect of the people. Teamwork can help a company soar. The lack of teamwork and integrity can make a company sink."
