"More seasonal support."
What do you like about working at Villanova University?
"I enjoyed the time when I was on the road meeting prospective applicants. The support staff in the Admission Office was one of the best I have ever worked with. The University itself was a great environment."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be prepared that HR will be very strict to the prerequisites set forth on the Job Opportunities. Be creative to find ways that you have fulfilled these. Learning about Villanova and their comparable schools...and about the region they are hiring for."
What don't you like about working at Villanova University?
"As a staff member, you were still subject to the parking lot for students. It was quite a trek to get to the office and if you left during the day, you were lucky to find a spot. There was clearly favoritism exhibited in the office for those who graduated from the University. Also, many members of the staff had been there for extended periods of time and were not too open to new ideas and ways to conduct business. Many of the buildings were older and not suitable working conditions. The way that expense reports were run was one of the most stressful parts of this position. In addition, there were constant fire drills for stuff to be completed instead of using temporary seasonal help (there were dates that occur EVERY YEAR and they always acted surprised instead of being prepared). We would have staff meetings and be told that it was another day with all hands on deck when proper planning could have avoided this."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Utilizing seasonal help for big deadlines: early action applications and the regular decision applications so that the staff is not constantly being relied on for these fire drills. Making the schedules for making the group presentations for visitors never seemed fair and more or less skewed."
"Loved everything at Villanova. Great administration, faculty, students, location."
