I think they need a new approach to the marketing team. The new CEO Rob Kats is a step in the right direction, now if they could match his ambition with talented marketers Vail would see themselves on top.

3.6 Allow cash reserves to flow down to line level employees. Vail Resorts was a big contributor to the inflation of real estate in Summit County, and that meant that the cost of living was enormous. They continually cut wages during the Great Recession, yet continually added to their cash reserves. This combination effectively gutted the local economy and fed profits to the C class and share holders. It had the appearance of being a top heavy company.

4.1 I have over six years of Commercial and Heavy Civil Construction Management. I worked for Kiewit Corporation as a Project Engineer where I managed a team of engineers. I was responsible for managing job finances, schedule, submittals, and all temporary engineering required to build the work. Along with field operations, my team completed job estimates and proposals for new work. I also worked with the business team to finalize payroll, conduct on-the-job hiring, and complete pay estimates. After resigning from my previous position with Kiewit, it had been my dream to travel and pursue kayaking professionally. I spent time teaching kayaking with various organizations. After settling in Avon, CO, I started to instruct snowboarding during the winter months. This experience has been incredible, but along with the outdoors, I am passionate about my engineering background, and am eager to return to the field.

Their resorts serve an elite customer base whose income averages $170,000 a year. Founded in 1997, their headquarters is located in Broomfield, Colorado near Denver and less than two hours away from many of their resorts in the Rocky Mountains. They employ more than 15,000 workers during peak season.

In addition to ski resort operations, Vail Resorts has a hospitality division operating a variety of lodging properties and golf courses, and a real estate division supporting resort-area operations. At their resorts they sell lift tickets, operate ski and snowboard schools, sell and rent equipment, and operate dining establishments. Their ski resorts are in Colorado, California and Nevada, and as RockResorts they operate other luxury destinations.
