"Overall, I really liked the team that I worked with."

What do you like about working at Vail Resorts?

"Benefits were fair. The access to skiing and snowboarding kept us all there, and generally happy."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Work for them because you like the lifestyle, but be prepared to bring your own money to the table. Working for Vail Resorts is all about sacrifice of the employees in exchange for the experience of a lifetime. If that is your expectation then you will do well with them."

What don't you like about working at Vail Resorts?

"My desire to snowboard all the time was flanked by my desire to live an affordable lifestyle. Pay was not commiserate to the cost of living."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Allow cash reserves to flow down to line level employees. Vail Resorts was a big contributor to the inflation of real estate in Summit County, and that meant that the cost of living was enormous. They continually cut wages during the Great Recession, yet continually added to their cash reserves. This combination effectively gutted the local economy and fed profits to the C class and share holders. It had the appearance of being a top heavy company."
