"We are behind the times; we don't have the best resources available to take care of our patients. There is very little collaboration between the doctors on different services."

"Be patient, don't let the little things get you down. Learn as much as you can here, but realize that not everything is done perfectly at UVA and when you leave you will have to forget the UVA way."

"Compensation is not competitive with similar institutions and jobs. Physicians are not extremely receptive of help. Nurses are not always given the respect by the physicians."

"Place a bigger emphasis on the employees; we are always told we have to do better, but we are not compensated correctly. We lack the resources we need and even if suggestions are made those resources are still lacking. I have never seen the CEO since orientation."

"Graduate research is relatively low-key, but the expectations and requirements are not very modern."

"The research resources are very poor, the faculty only have one or two strong focuses within materials science, and the courses are inadequate."

"There is little direction and management, and the faculty seem confused about their stature and importance."
