1.6On the positive side (and that is the only positive side), this company is very easy to get in. Pay is alright, they have promised a lot of interesting work and I fell for that. It turned out to be one of the worst jobs I've had. Work mostly consists of solving various administrative roadblocks: acquiring tools, cross-team communication, corporate processes, etc. Even figuring out how much time off you have left (unless you keep track of all the days you have used yourself) is a problem.Technologically, company's mindset is stuck in mid-nineties, there is little to no respect to new technologies and tools, 'permission over forgiveness' attitude dominates in all aspects. Software that is currently developed does not honor parallelism and not built with scalability in mind. Large chunk of the system is built using outright wrong tools (TIBCO). The problem is made worse by abundance of people with little technical backgrounds at all levels of UTi's engineering ladder.Very poor communication and miserable working environment: administrative staff and managers are rude and unprofessional, constant verbal fights between employees. Management is pushing for better performance while technology misuse and lack of tools make even the most basic tasks hard. Permanent feeling of being set up to fail.
Much of the management was asked to leave do to resent restructuring, persoally I felt although economic conditions were difficult a big part of the company's inability to hold it together was based on promotion with in based on nepotism and not qualified candidates. I only wish I would have interviewed for a management position and not a sales position as many people in management had no or little outside sales experience aside from working at uti.

3.5UTI's industry relationships and manufacturer programs have allowed me to build a nationwide network of companies and dealerships looking to hire our graduates. I enjoyed working face to face meeting with owners, general managers and service managers during OEM dealer trade shows to articulate the value of hiring MMI graduates. The company's culture is one that cares about employee's work life balance.
