"Usually interviews in UTEP are not hard unless you are applying for a position as a engineering professor or senior engineering or science staff member"

"It is hard to find a job in the IT department. It is hard to advance in your career at UTEP."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would concentrate more resources in science and engineering developing."

"They should realize that the pay won't be as high as in other places."

"Little chances for growing and earning more while limiting the tools to do your job."

"Better pay for the employees, and more opportunities to grow."

What do you like about working at University of Texas at El Paso?

"I liked being able to focus on my work. I had a great deal of freedom to design my equipment and experiments. It was also very fun to see the lab transform from a room full of broken junk into a NASA research center."

What don't you like about working at University of Texas at El Paso?

"Low pay. Hourly, it's not bad, but keep in mind that students had to pay at least the cost of tuition for doing thesis research. Taking that into account, the effective hourly rate is just a bit below minimum wage."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"We have some very advanced equipment in the lab, but basic things (like hammers, wrenches, etc) can be hard to find when you need them."
