"I've worked at the Naval Research Laboratory since 2017 as IT support. It is a diverse and unique organization. Somewhat confusingly organized. Getting to know the specific group you work for is important, and different groups can be wildly different work environments. The commute is awkward, based on the location. Also the fresh air from the Potomac is a welcome reprieve."

"It's the Navy. Joining the military is hard work and for most people is a way to serve their country."

"I’ve served proudly for 28 years and am about to retire. My entire adult life has been identified by the US Navy and it’s healthcare platform. Starting from the lowest ranks I worked my way, and was selected for a commission as a Naval Officer. The Navy’s healthcare personnel are an exceptional group of professionals who can accomplish any mission on a worldwide stage. Highly recommend looking into a Navy healthcare career."

"The Navy was a great stepping stone to start my adulthood. I learned how to be responsible both personally and professionally. The Navy ultimately ended up not being for me. After 11 years of honorable military service, a lot of the details with personnel management and job success decreased. With hectic schedules of working and deploying, and weekends and holidays with little to no time off, I am inspired to look for other employment opportunities."

"I've worked for Naval Hospital Twentynine Palms as an Information Technology professional since 2014 and it is a great place to work with a very friendly team! This Naval Hospital directly supports the warfighter and their family members by providing world-class healthcare and customer service. A true sense of honor, respect, and integrity is very apparent while being a part of this team."

"I worked for the United States Navy from October 2011 - May 2019. Of course every place has ups and downs. I had a great experience in the Navy, and wouldn't give it up for anything. It gave me the opportunity to see dozens of places I most likely never would have, and learn so many different skills. But there are down sides, too, of course. Regardless of what your rate or MOS is, your pay is pretty much the same. For example: 1) If you are an E4 Yeoman (Office Administrator) you are paid the same as an E4 Aviation Machinist's Mate (Aircraft Powerplant Mechanic), where the mechanic will most likely work well over 8 hours per day, performing intense manual labor, and having the lives of aircraft pilots depending on their work. They say, "Choose your rate, choose your fate" and it is 100% true. Compensation is incredibly unbalanced for the potential work performed. 2) Certain places you go, you will experience favoritism to excessive degrees, which unfortunately can prevent you from excelling. I still did really well, stood out, and advanced quickly, but there were definitely times that opportunities were given to individuals who were obviously less qualified or prepared for them."

"I’ve worked for the US Navy since 1999 until 2019. During that time I have grown in into a highly capable leader and manager."

"I thoroughly enjoy working at NSWCCD. The work is intellectually stimulating and it is wonderful being able to integrate laboratory experiments to in-service support for the USN and USMC."
