"We have almost no control over our day. I'm almost never able to accomplish what I had planned on doing each day - instead I'm always being tasked to last minute to work on some VIP's priority of the moment, meaning I often don't get to the most bread and butter basics of my job"

"Support a culture that incentives exceptional performance through positive reinforcement, not by instilling fear or threat of punichment"

"No, I don't. While my time in embassies working for USIA was wonderful, my experience in the Department in Washington was very discouraging."

"Despite the rhetoric, independence and initiative were penalized, and conformity demanded."

"The most incompetent people seem to get promoted. We have way too many rules and regulations, and they are unevenly applied. The organization controls too many aspects of our lives."

"Better training for newer employees. More upward mobility. Better annual evaluation and promotion system."
