Project Manager
in Amherst, MA

"A mixed bag of positive and negative, depending on the type of position."

What do you like about working at University of Massachusetts?

"There was flexibility, but at times the policies were too loose and open to abuses by others. Beautiful setting, location very nice."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be sure your interviewer knows all the administrative facts about your position, particularly with respect to grant-funded employment."

What don't you like about working at University of Massachusetts?

"Poor documentation, poor chain of command, hard to follow up on anything above or outside your immediate project(s). Performance reviews were non existent, as were opportunities to take career development training. Unless you're administrative staff, working there as a non-faculty, grant-funded professional was not always well accommodated. Some buildings are in bad condition, especially if you're there full time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Get the paper trails working more efficiently for employees. Have more control over who to talk to for administrative questions and problems. Get your buildings in shape--older buildings have health and safety issues that were very hard or impossible to resolve. Be sure all employees get annual performance reviews!!!"
