"Started at ULA almost 8 years ago... started bad, been getting worse since. Item by item: * Benefits - started pretty good, they just hacked them to hell, not good or even industry average now * Pay - Started underpaid, was a high achiever and earned a whopping 2.3 % raise yearly, was told that was rock star raises * Technical - have you ever wanted to fall completely behind your peers technically by only learning 80's tech? So far behind getting out is hard? * People - Literally 50/50, half are competent smart folks, the other half are literally trying to protect their jobs long enough so they can get super pensions. Progress comes here to die with the people. You can see this in reviews too, the people that love it to death are also the folks that are 3 years from pensioning out, make 150k for not much and are completely untouchable. Who wouldn't like that? * Management - Were you good technically? Then that must mean you'll be an awesome manager! Management is almost exclusively terrible, untrustworthy and manipulative. Politics to the extreme. * Overtime - Expect that you can work whatever they want, for however long they want because they don't know how to build a schedule. So if that means 20 hours of OT per week for months on end because of management screwup, meh, have fun. Don't care about your personal life, only how it impacts schedule all said. * Ability to change - Problems are so deeply rooted that you could only hope to address them by firing half the people and most of the management. We are "owned" by Boeing and LM and are literally the golden goose, so money doesn't stay with ULA, it returns to them. So getting better doesn't help ULA per say, just the owners and they don't care who or how anything happens as long as they get paid. RUN. RUN AWAY. SERIOUSLY DON"T GET CAUGHT UP IN THE HYPE OF THE PRODUCT, IT'LL IRREPARABLY HURT YOUR CAREER."
"I've worked for this company for more than 6 years and it has been a train wreck since day one. They operate like Lockheed/Boeing, without the bank roll, allowing inefficiency and inept staff to hang on in the corners everywhere and complain about cost cutting. 90% of all managers are legacy Lockheed or Boeing, who are smart, but are dubious leaders (good engineers often do not make excellent managers). Senior leadership tries to talk the talk, but is ineffective at leadership. RUN AWAY!"
"I've had a great experience working in the aerospace field. I've been part of McDonnell Douglas aerospace, Boeing aerospace, and United Launch Alliance. My positions over the years (17 years) have allowed me to become very proficient in the area of wire harness design and wire harness and electrical equipment installations."
