"This company is ripe with great people, I seldom encounter an individual not worth spending some time to discuss solutions with. There is a serious segregation of roles and responsibilities that hinders growth and learning however. Unlike any place I've encountered previously, each technical group has a very strict and narrow focus on responsibilities, with no sharing between groups, and all trade secrets closely guarded and seldom discussed. Documentation is poor, tribal knowledge is the rule."

What do you like about working at Union Bank?

"The work was technically challenging."

What don't you like about working at Union Bank?

"IT at UB used to be a very rewarding place work. The CIO not only cared about the work products, but also the stability and health of the IT work force. When he retired, a new management team was brought in - and turned the IT department upside down. It became an combative and overly aggressive work environment which as destabilized the workforce. I'd classify the compensation as battle pay."

What suggestions do you have for management?
