"It is extremely time consuming to properly grade all of the programs from the students' assignments. Given an average of about 100 programs every other week, about 60 percent of which need to be checked for efficient code, proper variable, function, class, and method naming, and other aspects of a competent programmer, such as commenting. The time it takes to grade the programs while still taking a full course load as an undergraduate is challenging; but, the satisfaction of watching the handful of students that are really interested in programming learn more and more, find new and divergent solutions than the average student is well worth the work put into grading and teaching those who are there to learn."
