The University of North Dakota (UND) is a public university located in Grand Forks, North Dakota. It was founded in 1883, even before the state of North Dakota itself was established. This makes UND the oldest university in the state. It is also the largest, with a total of 15,250 students enrolled.

UND offers its students a multitude of educational programs at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Its main specialties are the fields of engineering, nutrition, health sciences and aerospace. However, the university offers many other programs, such as business, information technology and public administration. The John D. Odegard School of Aerospace Sciences is very well known in North Dakota as it trains commercial pilots and air traffic controllers coming from all over the United States and the world. UND has recently started offering an online education facility, which lets student take non-credit courses, plus work towards a degree or certificate while they study at home.
