"It is good starting point for entry level position. Opportunity to learn electrical and Mechanical stuff."
"I worked for Timken for 10 years, first as a CO-OP student while enrolled at Clemson University and then as a full-time process engineer. The company has slow periods and they have layoffs of direct and indirect labor. Benefits are topical as with most large companies but the moral of associates needs improvement."
"The company is in the process of a change. The plant is being reduced and there is a great deal of uncertainty about job security among the workforce. There is significant reluctance in the labor relations to pursue progressive discipline. It has devolved such that management would tell me that it was well known that if you can't work for this company, you can't work for anyone."
"The experience and knowledge of the employees helps to educate the new employees on site."
"I've worked at Timken for about 3 months."
"I have worked with The Timken Company for 3 years. There is always room for growth and new responsibilities. There is a strong core leadership team all with like minded goals for what direction the business should be going. The environment fosters improvement and you will always be notified when you provide good results in your position."

"We are under new management that is still learning the job which is slowing the process of flow greatly."
"I worked for Timken Aerospace for 1-1/2 years to create production standards. Most of the manufacturing processes were well documented and were followed by the production associates but the process for manufacturing setups had excess variation. It was difficult to evaluate the productivity because of inconsistent labor reporting of time spent on each process because lost time and downtime was not always identified and reported."

What do you like about working at The Timken Co.?

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Leave and never go back after the interviews unless it is for a job or career within the office."
What don't you like about working at The Timken Co.?
"Only vending machines for food, too much supervision for simple tasks, employees are not allowed to talk, its very boring, its not as it seems once you start training and finish your orientation. The office staff acted too superior and had fun inside the offices, it was like watching someone else have a great time while you were bored and fighting sleep at the same time."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Not present all of the luxuries in front of employee presence. Have actual food in the cafeteria instead of making extra money by only having vending machines in the break room. Also understand that not letting your employees talk or communicate to one another while working is dangerous as well! Especially a third shift job fighting to stay awake. So therefore I would allow my employees to talk."
