Until recently, Thoratec had a monopoly in the US market. Recent changes in the executive team may improve their decision-making ability. Time will tell."

"They need to understand more in medical device industry enviroment."

What don't you like about working at Thoratec?

"The approval processes. The decisions sometimes take several weeks to be approved."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management team needs to understand in depth how the people interact."

"Thoratec is an outstanding company and a family environment and I gained excellent knowledge working for them. However, there was not much opportunity to grow and my position was elimanted and transferred to California at our Corproate Office."

What do you like about working at Thoratec?

"The people and our life saving device. I enjoy helping people and I felt I played a major role in saving lives. As I was at Thoratec for 15 years, I hired the majority of the staff and our turnover was extremely low. I knew the people well and knew who would fit within the company culture. I also like challenges and learning more."

"I would say to be professional and upbeat to show you are interested in the company and their products. Look at the website to learn more."

What don't you like about working at Thoratec?

"I don't have anything bad to say about this company, they are wonderful to their employees and the only down side was the elimination of my position."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Of course there were excellent managers and then some that needed work. We were working towards training these managers and hopefully this has been successful."
