2.7The UPS store is a slow paced environment, perfect for people with a high school education. While it's slow, the nature of the job deals with other people's property and personal information. This means there is a level of human interaction and understanding one must have when working here. Often, there is a large amount of responsibility as one mistake can actually count as two or more. Unfortunately, customers often yell at you without understanding that you are simply a clerk, and don't control where packages come and go. The supervisors are seldom in the store and are often in a bad mood. Hearing about problems twice as much as well as not being able to do anything about them amounts to a large amount of stress. While it's a good starting place, it's certainly not a career.
2.4The job varies by store, as they are independently owned and operated. But even some of the standards and rules the store enforces cause customers to get upset and shoot the messenger, which would be you. Be ready to follow an impossible-to-follow guideline as nothing is written down anywhere. You can become pretty familiar with regular customers but that is one of the only silver linings in an otherwise dull, repetitive, and low-paying job.
3.9The UPS Store Inc is a decent place to work. I really enjoy working with the independent franchisees and helping them become better business owners. The varying locations and people mean there's never a dull moment. The initiatives can be exhausting sometimes, and frustrating. Dealing with some personality types can be difficult as well. But generally I enjoy my job. The only thing that needs to be improved is the pay rate, as it's drastically low for the area. Other than that, it's a good place to work. Great for beginning a career in Account Management, and Area Operations Management.
