"Management was a joke - incompetent people with less experience than me telling me how to do things. Trust me, it didn't work well."

"Don't hire your friend or hire by looks. Really look into who and what you are hiring."

"David Casey is probably the best hands on President ever. Knowledgeable in most construction practices and personally available."

"Be up front about expectations and work schedule. You do not want to work weekends for the next 2 years."

"Project managers usually could care less about your personal life :( so you do not have one."

"the management has no concern for safety for their employees or the sub contractor,all they care about is the schedule and the bottom dollar two weeks after I left the company there was a fatal accident do to little concern"

"get a safety program and stick to it"

What do you like about working at Otto Trucking?
"I liked the fact that Alan Otto himself would over see projects and ask for any input from employees . In most cases he would go on the advice of experienced and well seasoned employees, I feel that Alan is real fair with prevailing government projects, And the prevailing wage to be payed to his workers, truck drivers, Heavy Equipment Operators, superintendents, Dirt Foremans, In general I think his middle name is fairness."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Yes , If you are hired for the position of truck driver And you are on a dirt project around equipment operators , Please feel free to ask any and all questions . I strongly feel that If you do this you will be one of the best . communication always comes with safety ."
What don't you like about working at Otto Trucking?
"I would have to say that some of the less experienced truck drivers are slowing production down , And are more likely to be the cause of accidents and machine breakdowns. Versus, a well trained driver in the field of highway construction or any dirt construction projects ."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"I feel that management in some cases does not understand different situations . Pertaining to the process in which truck drivers and equipment operators do not seem to see things the same way . This is part of the production problems and employee temperament, I also fell that If there were more safety meetings and employment training programs of awareness. I believe Alan Otto / Otto Trucking Inc, Would be more of a national contender in the Heavy Highway construction field , More than they already are."

What do you like about working at UPA Group?
"I enjoyed the challenges day to day, however I was the only one Super actulally doing daily logistics for all subs, 40 of our employees, time cards, purchase orders, equipment rentals & maintenance, all material purchases & management, site safety officer, elevator inspections, material lifts, swing stage, trash chute, etc. while the others walked around smoking or watching me unload trucks. Then I was asked to go to Virginia City every day for a month & a 1/2 to help finish a middle school project, the super couldn't tell the time of day never mind run a 500,000.00 job. Nobody listened to him so I was again in charge. No additional pay or incentive and gas receipts for reimbursement instead of mileage. The sales team had no clue what they where talking about as when I asked how many units were sold she replied Oh about 1/2 or 190, I asked where were my selections You know tile, carpet, cabinets, countertops, doors, fixtures, colors,and on an d on. They night have 10-15 units occupied, I suggested we have valet parking for our 3 under ground parking lots, NO, I suggested a market in the building for convience, NO we lost Ruth Chris Steakhouse and on it goes. The windows are ridiculously UGLY, they chop the hole building up, they are hopper windows that tilt in rather than awnings & casements. The window installers were 4 plus months behind, I told them the weather comes from the North & the West, so they started on the South & East. No delays there, as well I was told not to tell our subs how to do there job If they would have listened to me they would have actually made money & been done ahead of schedule. Oh well, L# picked the interior colors, carpet, tile, cabinets, countertops & said We'll just tear out what they don't like! The one good thing is it is the most gorgeous and prestigious mid rise building downtown. Now the est of Reno needs to be imploded & brought in to the 21st century!"

"Save yourself and go some where else. They are full of false promises regarding bonuses for meeting and exceeding schedule dates."
What don't you like about working at UPA Group?
"It was always talk talk talk but no action, the architect was in Chicago. RFI's took forever to get back, it was a nightmare."

"Trust your lead people and listen to them!"

"It started out as great Company to work for then there was a management change and things got a lot different."

"I think I was railroaded into resigning as I believe a few others were"

"Started becoming very narrow in looking at employees. Very little room for individuality. There was also an underlying cliche"
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Loosen up and be a bit more lenient in interpreting work rules. Allow for individuality and communicate policy changes to the field a bit faster."

"The people they have and acquire are great to work with. Pulte goes out of their way to find the best people for their customers."

"Whether your work ethic and results are top notch, if you are not the one they want you will not progress up within the company."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Be honest with your employees instead of trying to sugarcoat everything. A company that makes good money should try and give some back to their employees. They would show the shareholders what they want, and you have to kick and scream to get a raise."
