Sun Behavioral Columbus Employee

"When I first started working at Sun Behavioral a few years ago, it was full of energy, employees were happy, and good work was celebrated. The CEO was the best I’ve ever worked with, and the administration was enthusiastic and cared about the employees. I worked with an incredible team of people who worked well together, supported each other, and provided excellent patient care. After that CEO left, there was a quick shift in energy. Employees became unhappy and stressed, collaboration between administration and employees dwindled, and employees began leaving. After that CEO left, there was a quick shift in energy. Employees became unhappy and stressed, collaboration between administration and employees dwindled, and employees began leaving. Most of the inpatient therapists left due to a previous supervisor who wound up leaving, and I heard the new inpatient director is better. Sun Behavioral hired a new outpatient director who is militant, punitive, manipulative, and has been outright mean to multiple employees. In less than 6 months’ time, the department lost the coordinator (plus the one who was hired to replace her), all of the therapists, two nurses, a nurse practitioner, and two PCA’s/van drivers. The only person left who was there before this director started is a van driver. Since losing all their staff except one and having difficulty hiring and keeping enough staff, there has been no outpatient adolescent program for five months and the census has been less than half of what it was the prior year. Despite the downfall of the outpatient program, complaints about the director continue to fall on deaf ears. I am sad that I had to leave the patients that I cared so much about and miss the Sun atmosphere that no longer exists. The place that was once a source of support, purpose, and smiles has become a place of stress, anger, and sadness. The Sun Behavioral that was once full of life and spirit is now a shell of its former self."
