What do you like about working at Sturgis Web Services?

"I like the people I worked with, the trust the management had in me to get the job done right the first time, and the way I always felt my opinion was valued and important. I also liked the no dress code part!"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be personable and honest. The management is extremely likable and always has their employees best interests in mind. If you aren't sure of how to do something and can be humble enough to admit it, they are really great about being open to teaching you. They even paid for night classes for me when I expressed an interest in learning about programming!"

What don't you like about working at Sturgis Web Services?

"The job wasn't very flexible with work hours. Being in a creative field and dealing with clients can make projects move different speeds at different times and even when I had absolutely nothing to do at work I was still required to be in my cubicle 40+ hours a week. I also would have to travel on weekends and was required to take 5 am flights home so that I could work a full 8hr day. Also, the building had no windows and very low lighting therefore I found that spending 40 hours a week there did not provoke creativity."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I think they should trust their employees to have their own time-management skills. I would have felt much more satisfied in my position if I had the opportunity to manage my own time and my projects a little more independently. Also, I think they could push the boundaries a little more and be open to trying more new ideas. After about 6 months there I felt as if I knew everything there was to know and I never felt challenged anymore. I would have been more satisfied if I had felt that I was continuing to learn more and had the opportunity to take on new responsibilities."
