What do you like about working at Scientific Systems?
"It has been a kind and friendly place to work. I have also enjoyed a high degree of autonomy in pursuing SBIR topics that interest me, and in selecting organizations to partner with."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Prepare a presentaton. SBIR Awards have been turning into contracts very slowly pending the SBIR program renewal by Congress, and MDA budget cuts. SSCI is not hiring at the present time."
What don't you like about working at Scientific Systems?
"Since I was hired, the company has decided to grow, and has hired mainly another layer of highly-paid management and marketing people on top of the existing employees, rather than to promote from within. The overhead rate at SSCI is as frightful as it is for any of the prime defense contractors. I feel that I am being held back in getting SBIR proposal awards by the company's poor SBIR commercialization record."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop focusing on just any SBIR you think we can do, focus our talents, aim for larger contracts, and give people a chance to work on their projects."
