"Though my contract was brief, I had a great time working hard with my team to deliver an engaging experience to our clientele. Some of the company's corporate decisions haven't been the best, but the employees themselves are great and I'd definitely work with them again!"

QA Tester

"I worked at Square Enix for one project (three months).Pros Working with good people like me who enjoy video games.Cons No recognition for effort in the QA dept. Higher up employees are jaded, unmotivated, and create a hostile work environment. Personal note I was lied to about being rehired. Contractors claimed the next project was cancelled when the real reason was my lack of experience. Company lacks integrity and has no concerns with honesty to new employees."

"Management represents a security risk."

What do you like about working at Square Enix?

"Overall the people that work at Square Enix have similar interests so it is easy to find people that like the same things, read the same types of books, etc.... If you are a fanboy/ fangirl, gamer, anime watcher, etc... you can pretty much find anything you like. Work environment is laid back and most of the company is cordial."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Ideally it is recommended that you love videogames, love Square Enix, and love working with computers."

What don't you like about working at Square Enix?

"Unfortunately in a work environment characterized by an industry that has never grown up, it is easy to find the place in disarray. Employees leave their trash everywhere which piles up and soon begins to smell. It's generally assumed that when children are raised alone they keep their trash with them everywhere they go. It's easy to imagine that a good portion of the company finds comfort in the smell of rotting food and leaving their trash lying around. So in short work environment is unclean and may even present a fire hazard. I've also been caressed without permission by other males working in the department. Why a man reaching his 40's should have to be told to keep their hands to themselves is insane especially in 2013. Fraternization unfortunately leads to information about co-workers being leaked from lower management to the rest of departments with little concern for the integrity of the information being shared. This represents an unfortunately dilemma where privacy is held to a lower standard than most companies. Hiring has little to no rhyme or rhythm to it. Generally managers ensure that the people being hired have chemistry and work well together. Unfortunately, this is sorely overlooked. Important policy decisions are trickled down secretly behind closed doors and whispers. Management is abusive and represents a security risk for everyone working in the El Segundo office."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire adults or the company will have problems in no time."

What don't you like about working at Square Enix?

"The lack of any solid internal development has always been this company's shortcoming. Being established int eh U.S. for so long, they have never really made a long-term or concerted effort to build a reputable in-house development team."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Don't forget that while the people you employ love what they do, they are people first and employees second. And like all people, from time t time they need to feel like their work is appreciated more often than they like to admit."
