"worthless"

What do you like about working at SolarCity?

"Most of the lower level employees are good people, weekends off"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"RUN like the plague, I kid you not. I cannot stress enough what a bad idea this company is I have worked here for over a year seen 3 safety managers and 3 HR managers hired and quit in that time. They don't care they would prefer to have you quit and hire someone else then give you opportunity to move up."

What don't you like about working at SolarCity?

"terrible benifets, low pay, no written policies are adhearded to at all management makes up rules to suit their needs whenever they want. Lie to you in interview promise you things then try to tell you that they never said any of their promises. Even tried to demand that we work our 40 hours on top of a paid holiday off. when asked hr about this he would not give any written answer and stressed that I should call me instead."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Keep your promises, talk to your employees! give periodic reviews or any type of feedback on any of what is expected. do review on the people you have running your wearhouses that do not have any idea on what is going on."

"You will work hard and when you think you are going to get a break you will work even harder. There is great opportunity for growth but it all depends on what you want and what growth means to you. You have to be a hard worker to do this job, no time for slacking off. Good Luck!"

"So many people have come and gone since I've been here - especially in sales, It's a revolving door! You will work plenty of OT without pay (if you are exempt - that may change soon). Free cereal, coffee and sodas are the only perk. They are there to keep you at your desks and help avoid breaks. I got an hourly rate, but sales group had their pay constantly changed/ lowered through various programs deviously designed by senior sales management.EVERYONE has a quota even if your not in sales."

"Free cereal and snacks don't make up for lying and cutting salary on all salespeople. Installations always pushed out, delayed, or cancelled - seeing a commission is non-existent. Hiring quotas (easy to get hired due to this), sales quotas, call quotas, any quota you can name is there. Turnover happens every day. Corporate only interested in getting homeowners locked into 20 year contracts - they want to bargain the financials for seats on the energy board. Their real purpose - leverage."

"Not a great company to work for in the still developing markets. They don't seem to understand that there are differences market to market. Upper management dispenses koolaid in tanker trucks and everyone is expected to drink a few gallons a day. Ask yourself how many times you need to be told something before you start to disbelieve it. I will say they do manage to hire very nice people."

"I was really excited to get the job. I was looking forward to develop a great relationship with the workplace environment and teammates. I would always give my best to get the job done on time, even if it meant working extra hours for no extra pay. But the management style was horrible and undesirable. The manager would make unreasonable demands like calling me unprofessional in front of the entire team for not attending a meeting I haven't received any notification to. The junior positions get blamed for the manager's mistakes. They don't provide proper training and would expect the new employee to know everything about the company's database and applications without providing proper exposure. Not allowed to answer any important calls during work hours, which is completely cruel. Suppressed of freedom of speech. You'll be expected to have no opinion or views of your own. Poor dispute resolution skills in management. Chances are you could get laid off for nonsense reasons that do not make any sense. Although, I looked forward to giving the best I can and putting great effort in learning more from the company, the whole experience seemed pretty awful. It's a very hostile work environment."

"I've worked for SolarCity since August 2014 as a PV Designer. I'm responsible for drafting for PV installation on residences using internal software - designed explicitly to enable me to draw faster. I haven't enjoyed how I have to compete against my peers for work - it doesn't foster a good team environment. I also don't enjoy doing assembly-line like work every single day."

"9 months in SolarCity is growing at breakneck speed with little thought to infrastructure and human resource planning. What a wonderful cause and product though. I hope I can outlast the growing pains."

"Seems like SolarCity inside sales is the lowest-paying in the industry. Crazy how they are getting away with the low amount of money they pay their employees. Example, if a system generates $50k in revenue and takes 3 months to install, you would be compensated roughly $500 for it. 3 months of work for that??!!? The rest of the industry is paying a lot more. Turnover is unreal. Every single month so many people are quitting once they realize that everything they were told are smoke and mirrors. On top of all of this there is no support from management at all. Managers are in meetings all day long so it's survival of the fittest. If you don't end up converting your leads at a high percentage every 3 days then you will fall to the bottom of the queue and not receive any more calls. I was actually one of the top producers that left to work for Sunrun and it is night-and-day different. Also spoke with Vivint and they are much better aligned for pay and the support to succeed as well. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND WORK FOR SOLARCITY. YOU WILL REGRET IT."
