Being skilled in the industry in which they work, finance or banking, for instance, could also prove useful in order to further understand user needs.


Career Path: Software engineers may find it beneficial to have a background in computer programming or earn a master's degree. Engineers should also remain up-to-date on the current trends, tools and computer languages in order that they can be that much more efficient at their jobs.
