4.1I would not be looking for other employment if there was more upward movement in a shorter period of time. Silgan is a good solid company to work for. I have been in my current position for 5 years now with no opportunity for advancement for at least another 7 years.
4.7I have worked for Silgan Containers for almost 13 years. I have advanced from management trainee to Asst. Superintendent. I have made one move with the company from the St. Joseph, MO plant to the Savage Mn. plant. I have filled many roles as needed from HR, Quality, Safety Coordinator, Lean Coordinator. The tools Silgan gives an employee to grow and develop are how I have achieved what I have.
2.6This company provides an individual the opportunity to learn the process and the equipment involved while receiving a substantial salary in the process. Although this is the case, taking into consideration just the time required at work, the breakdown on an hourly basis during the 1 year learning phase is low. This does not include the time invested at home that is needed to complete projects since no time is given at work to work on them. Good for single person but not a family person.
