"I love being a server because it bring me enjoyment to serve people. I can tell, better than my peers, how people are feeling based on their body language and attitude. I have been told before that I have changed their day by being such a great server and having a positive attitude. I also love the chemistry that I have with my coworkers. The only thing I hate about being a server is the labor-intensivity of the job."

"I love the guests sometimes but I also hate some of the guests. sometimes you make pretty good money, sometimes you don't. The pay is so up and down."

What do you like about working at Cracker Barrel?

"Most customers are very friendly. Very few like to nitpick. As long as you acknowledge your coworkers, treat them with respect, and help them when needed, you'll get along swimmingly."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If anything be honest. Show then you're not morally swayed. Clean and iron your clothes, it's all part of the uniform. It helps to be in a good mood coming in. If the managers see that you're a jovial person, they'll remember that."

What don't you like about working at Cracker Barrel?

"The rules of CB dictate that guests are served according to a timeline. Approach them within one minute, get orders and drinks, type in orders, food out, give the check before they are done eating, and continue to serve drinks. People have their own agenda, though, and will get annoyed when we try to push them."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Pay attention to what employees are trying to tell you. We understand what's going on in the work environment more than management does. If someone is out of line, it's not like we're trying to fire them, we just wanna make the workplace better."

"I enjoy working with my coworkers, the quality of food is great, and the cleanliness of the restaurant is a plus."

"If you're interested in this job for the money, I wouldn't bother unless you strictly work weekends."

What don't you like about working at LongHorn Steakhouse?

"Management is beyond unprofessional, showing a lack of genuine respect and favoritism among the staff. The restaurant design is poor, guests get sticker shock and the server pays for it. Slim chances for advancement or improvement in position or compensation. Scheduling is terrible. Management struggles with understanding the concept of slow vs. steady days, and employees end up fighting for the prime shifts just to make money that is worth the work. Too much side work! Half of the shift is spent cleaning, stocking, and rolling silverware."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Higher expectations from management, reward/praise employees for exceptional work, better scheduling methods, lower the amount of side work each shift."

What do you like about working at Comedy Works?

"The company was always taking on event projects which were fun and interesting. I had also had the opportunity to meet some celebrities (comedians and musicians) along the way. The people I worked with were also very close and helpful to work with."

"Be punctual and experienced. You should be ready to work fast with perfection. you are playing in the big leagues now."

What don't you like about working at Comedy Works?

"I felt that the company was too big for them to meet the expectations that the business model had planned. It was a new location and the business was slightly inconsistent to meet the requirements that the Owner had planned for the establishment."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Slow down and allow yourself to grow. Rehash and allow your teams to grow while continually educating the team. Don't keep employees in the dark."

"Challenging, Fun, and unique"

What do you like about working at McMenamins Grand Lodge?

"The ability to meet new people from around the world. Being a hotel establishment, you get the opportunity to enhance the visit to not only the State of Oregon, but also the Country. The family built at McMenamins is also a major attraction from this position. Summer hours and tips are extraordinary."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Being personable and approachable will get you far with this company. They look for uniqueness in the person as well as experience."

What don't you like about working at McMenamins Grand Lodge?

"Inconsistency of business. Seasonal business flows makes it difficult to make a living off of the tips and pay earned. Hours diminish when there is no business to drive it."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I feel that hours could be delegated more diplomatically between service teams and management teams. I feel that managers should also not be overwhelmed with administrative work as well as taking on the basic server tasks as well."

"I enjoy 95% of the employees I work with, and there is always shifts available to pick up."

"Be very positive and energetic, and let them know you are all about pleasing the guests."

What don't you like about working at Olive Garden?

"Hardest serving job I have ever worked. For $4.85 an hour, you are expected to do a lot of duties beyond your job description, which they refer to as team work. The tips are the worst I've ever come across. Guests must think it's easy for us to run endless salad, soup, and bread sticks because it is reflected in the tips!"

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Hire a food runner, and give us more than 3 tables! The economy is hard on everyone, an extra table could result in an extra $20 a shift, a $100 a week. When you work a lunch shift and walk out with $20 in your pocket, it's frustrating."
