"I love being a server because it bring me enjoyment to serve people. I can tell, better than my peers, how people are feeling based on their body language and attitude. I have been told before that I have changed their day by being such a great server and having a positive attitude. I also love the chemistry that I have with my coworkers. The only thing I hate about being a server is the labor-intensivity of the job."

"I love serving tables, and I can usually shake it off when someone tips me bad, but it can be a difficult job. You could be absolutely terrible at it and still get great tips, or you could be the best server in the restaurant and have someone not tip you at all. It's a difficult situation to be in and you could easily make all your rent in two shifts or you could put yourself in more debt in one shift. The satisfaction level varies. If you enjoy making people smile and serving others, you will enjoy it, but if your feelings are easily hurt and you can't handle stress, do not apply to be a server. It's great for if you're in college or if you don't want to be a stay at home mom and need something to do, but I would not choose it as a career. You're never promised a certain amount, so you could walk home with $20 or $200."

Server at Pappasito's Cantina
in Marietta, GA

"I love how I'm so good at it. There are so many points when it comes to waiting tables. From how far the silverware should be from the end of the table, to the million different parts of suggesting/selling something. It's easy to be lazy and get the job done but it is so much more rewarding to work really hard in a professional matter to give the best dining experience possible. An enormous part of it is in the server's hands. Sometimes I dislike guest's ideas of how a dining experience should go."
