"Do everything you can to get the job. This is one of the few companies you can still start and retire if you want."

"Because so much freedom is given, there is room for abuse."

"Focus on how to promote your strong human resources. We can often lose sight of this."

"At this point, I do not. Canoe shut down their NYC offices and I don't have any insight into how Denver is running."

"Very political, poor leadership and direction, very slow to make and execute on decisions, very often lacking alignment across groups."

"Streamline product offerings and on-going projects, reduce number of VPs (as a percent of total) and redudant teams, encourage teamship between NYC and Denver."

"Lack of investment into the employees in terms of growth with the organization"

"Spend more time with your employees to truely learn how they contribute to the organization and give them the recognition they earned."

"The focus on individual value and participation in moving the various projects forward. The management defines what they want achieved, and then give the employees and contractors adequate space latitude to define how to complete tasks, and time enough to achieve it."

"Understand that you are a 'time and materials' contractor, and you own ONLY the tasks you are assigned."
What don't you like about working at Duke Energy?
"Some employees are still used to doing the functional work in delivering electricity. They are now working in the project area, and have difficulty grasping time critical tasks. Fortunately, the contractors always find ways to work around them."

"Add processes that move tactical work to functional contractors and employees to free management people's time."
