Senior Physical Therapist at New York Presbyterian Hospital

Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Don't get me started"

What do you like about working at New York Presbyterian Hospital?

"I like the fact that I quit and wish I had quit much sooner than I did. Three years is the max time any PT should waste there, unless they get into the clique that is allowed to advance. Not in that clique, you will stagnate and be progressively more dissed."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Once you get there, watch your back. If you can, be a mommie or a man since they seem to be favored. If you want to be promoted, exhibit emotional instability and party with the boss. As with any big hospital, it's a good exposure to a wide base of medical conditions, but don't count on any promises, and if you're not in the clique, don't waste any longer than 3 years."

What don't you like about working at New York Presbyterian Hospital?

"Don't get me started.1. Grossly unfair compensation schemes.2. Favoritism/Unprofessional behavior at senior levels.3. Pride themselves/boast of the training they offer but don't promote from within; seek people trained elsewhere and bring them in over people who have worked in-house, and give them higher salaries.4. Rigid rotation rules, unless you are a favorite. Rigid adherence to rotations means inability to complete certain competencies and means certain experiences are denied you, even after putting in large amounts of time towards a particular competency. (In other words, certain types of patients are seen only by those who have completed competencies, but only favored people ever get to complete those competencies.)5. Access to lucrative private patients is controlled and funneled to favoured staff, usually those members of the entrenched senior clique.6. Incompetent and patently emotionally unstable people promoted based on personal loyalties; regular staff subjected to unprofessional behavior, tantrums, public humiliations etc. etc., and no recourse.7. Incompetent Human Resources staff, who are obstructive, and downright abusive when one is trying to get their egregious errors corrected (for example, cancelling health insurance by their errors, etc.)One could go on all day. I left 4 yrs ago ; perhaps things came to a head and have changed somewhat."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Clean house completely and start fresh in the Rehabiliation Department; it's a nest of corruption."
