A loan processor guides customers through the process of applying for and receiving a loan. A typical day for a loan processor involves reviewing customer applications, filing credit reports, and if qualifications are satisfied the loan request is sent to a committee for further review.


Skillset: Loan processors must have strong oral and written communication skills and excellent knowledge of finance. They must also be proficient with computers and able to work in a team oriented environment. Several years of experience in finance may also be beneficial.


Education: Employers look for a loan processor to possess an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business or finance. Some industries may require extra certifications and special training. Advanced computer and math courses are also highly recommended.
