"Schiff Hardin is one of top ten legal law firms in Chicago, has been around over 150 years, and is/was the first jewish law firm established in Chicago. My work experience/career has grown tremendously while employed at Schiff Hardin, and had allowed me to become technically proficient, attentive, reliable and professional. I consistently learned new skills and software. I am proud to say that one of my better traits was the ability to deal with different kinds of personalities, both in my relationship with clients and people in other departments of the firm."

What do you like about working at Schiff Hardin?
"The laterally recruited partners are terrific to work with and the compensation is excellent. There are some truly wonderful people and attorneys with the firm."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"If you do not have an established mid market practice, look elsewhere. If you do, you can have a wonderful home, provided you do not need a great deal of associate assistance."
What don't you like about working at Schiff Hardin?
"The firm is not entrepreneurial and very few attorneys have worked outside of the law firm environment. Also the firm does not have the client's best interest in mind and the Partners are too narrowly focused in the main office. There is no true commitment to building the non-Chicago based practices. If something is outside of the scope of someones experience in Chicago, it is not acceptable. The focus is on billable hours, not adding value to the firm and the firm clients."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Invest in the future. Keep hiring wonderful people. Spend more time at the remote offices, share clients, encourage team work and compensate accordingly. Honor those that seek to help build the Schiff Hardin brand. Perhaps have partners spend non-billable time working with clients that are in consumer businesses to gain a better understanding of their needs and how to build a brand. You have great people, get them out there. Spend at least 15% of your revenue on brand building. Also, get more associates."
