What do you like about working at Ryder?

"The culture is very employee-oriented. While IT is at times unfocused due to separation of duties and other factors, the people are all really great, including management. Teams work well together and there seems to be less office politics than other places I've worked."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Be flexible and personable. What you know is important, but the kind of person you are seems to come in a close second. Ryder is a company that exists on a foundation of long-term employees. It's a very familial culture. Smile!"

What don't you like about working at Ryder?

"I could use a more fast-paced environment with more challenges. Some of the day-to-day work feels like drudgery... essential, but I prefer being on the edge of my abilities, which I definitely am not a good portion of the time."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I believe in the management team. From an IT perspective, they are focused on the right things and headed in the right direction. I have zero complaints."

What do you like about working at Ryder?

"I get lots of flexibility in schedule and have hands off management. The commission structure encourages performance and you can do quite well."

"Emphasize your willingness to move for a promotion. They like that."

"It sometimes seems impossible to hit the targets set based on the support of my coworkers on both the technical and practical sides."

"I would put more emphasis on training and consistency of performance. Before we can clear any hurdle we need to fix our staffing issues- too little support."

"It would have been nice if they paid much better than they did,"

"When your company has a high turn over rate; that says that what you are asking a person to do (work wise) compared to the pay does not match. The company needs to pay more!"

"It was a union environment so at times it was difficult to get certain task completed."

"I enjoyed working for this company. I was allowed to work independently with littel supervision which I appreciated. It showed a sense of trust."

"They should provide more cross training and provisions for growth."

"I don't like how we're experiencing cut backs and layoffs are looming."

"Since more people have been with Ryder for 2 or 3 decades they are oblivious that using 3 decade old computer software is a problem."

"I get to have hands on experience with a wide range of technology.. I work on servers, workstations, routers, switches, wireless, etc all in one place!"

"Be yourself. Be honest. Be prepared to be asked questions that are out of the scope of the position you are applying for."

"Somewhat monotonous. There aren't many opportunities for upward mobility within my vertical."

"Focus less on developing bureaucratic processes, and focus more on being customer focused."

"No two days were alike. The support all three of my direct reports gave me was outstanding. Ryder was very safety conscious which resulted in great employee morale."

"They will be in for one of the best experiences in their careers. Just be yourself and be honest."

"There was a large number of weekly conference calls and reports to deal with. All are necessary, but some could have been cut down."

"There is nothing that I could say that they are not already doing or have done."

"Presently working on 3rd shift, moved there due a demand for an advanced skilled supervisor"
