"Having worked in industry for several years I have this company to be one of the better ones. Benefits are on par with other industry leaders but the company does close down for holidays. Depending on your department moving up is difficult, where, most individuals work in Operations for a year and then jump to development the moment they can."

"The Santa Clara site has many opportunities? with several groups being housed there. The internal environment is flexible to allow employees the opportunity to move to the group that best suits their interests."

"Personal experience - pharma Roche, painful and disappointing."

What do you like about working at Roche?

"I had generally very supportive colleagues , knowledgeable and friendly, had the opportunity to learn a lot, attend scientific meetings and advance my career. I enjoyed working there for the first year, until they changed the management for a very poor one."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you think you can work in fear and do not need recognition and acknowledgment , go on and interview for Roche pharma. If you are speaking with a foreign accent - forget about working at Roche. If you are like 85 % of workers in US and enjoy working not in fear, but while being valued and acknowledged, your place is not at Roche pharma."

What don't you like about working at Roche?

"As a foreign national I faced unbelievable discrimination , often hatred, and condescendence on a regular basis in the Medical Affairs. I was called names, mistreated, and my outstanding contributions were not acknowledged most of the time by the management I had during the second year. I was discriminated against and put down and humiliated on a regular basis, although my background in science , contributions to science and awards obtained before Roche were/are truly excellent. The environment at Roche US Medical Affairs was, during my stay there, one of inducing fear. The employees were fearful, not functioned to be acknowledged and respected."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"The management of Pharma Medical Affairs needs to learn from other inclusive companies about ethics, fair treatment, non-discriminatory policy, and other related issues. They are losing talent. More than 40 % of medical and health care workers in US are foreign graduates, many of them outstanding. This % is nowhere to be found at Roche pharma, and most of pharma in US anyway. The managment of pharma at Roche treats other nationalities with arrogance and discrimination, without looking closely to the talent they lock out."
