Working at RadioShack in Brooklyn, NY: 2 Employee Reviews

RadioShack Employee

"I worked for the company for a year and I have experienced some kind of discrimination in the store I was at. Most of the employees were of Middle Eastern descent and there were about 3 African Americans working there. When I started, they treated me different from other new sales associates. Instead of teaching me how to use the register right away, they kept making me do tasks that men should do, such as cleaning up the garbage, cutting down boxes, sending me to get coffee and donuts for everyone and even made me carry a very heavy vacuum cleaner to another nearby RadioShack. This is the worst company I ever worked at because they never taught me anything and they made me feel very uncomfortable. I was too scared to say something then but I'm not holding my tongue anymore."

Sales and Customer Service Associate

"I have achieved customer service skills through RadioShack."

What do you like about working at RadioShack?

"The employee achieves experiences in the customer service field. Dealing with thousands of people per week from a different set of minds helps you understand their needs and serve with your best regards."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Best of luck on your interview. RadioShack is the best place to learn how to deal with many people and how to serve them with the best integrity."

What don't you like about working at RadioShack?

"Job security is very low. Due to employees mostly working on commission, you are pushed to your limits. And if the store does bad (due to bad customer experience or just the fact that you are in a neighborhood that does not attract many customers), you can lose your job. Management would not understand why you didn't make a certain number."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Management must not be all about making the number, but also about the best working experience that an employee can have, in terms the productivity could rise significantly."
