"AV company to be only if you need the money (ie better than Mc Donalds but not by much)"
What do you like about working at PSAV Presentation Services?
"Opportunity to work in various locations, meeting multiple individuals from other companies. Sharpening my customer support skills. Get to know how to work and troubleshoot old equipment. Help how to work with rookies."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Get all the money you can ahead of time. Get any promises in writing (if not they will NOT be fulfilled or at best it will be broken at a later date). If you read enough about audio and simple projection you can lie all you want they will never figure it out. Do not trust HR they will lie more than you. Full time is not full time (it means average 32 hours a week for the year which is what is required by law). Flexible schedule means they can schedule you whenever they want and you have to like it. Lunch is free on only 2 out of 3 locations. Parking is never free. Shifts can be at ANY time and can be as short as 2 hours (breaking the law but the company seems to be able to get away with it). Get ANYTHING finalized in writing. Negotiate your salary at the begining, there is little to no chance to get more later (at the moment they have a salary freeze or reductions) Knowledge = more work not more money."
What don't you like about working at PSAV Presentation Services?
"No career advancement possible. Worst HR, IT and support depts ever experienced or heard of. Uses very old technology. Cash strapped (no raises, no new equipment, no training, no benefits). Furlough, lay off, benefit cuts, and salary cuts. Overwork and NEVER appreciated. The most knowledgeable never (ever) become managers.."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Stop treating people like they are worthless. Full time is implied 40 hours a week not average of 32hrs/week for the year. Training helps both the company and the employee. Technicians do talk among each others so they do know the salary ranges. The managers that lie, the properties that do not have free parking and free lunch."
