Please give us a one liner to describe this review.

"Not an enjoyable workplace, good pay, uncertain company future"

What do you like about working at Ducommun?

"It could be a great place to work, but too many problems with the organization create an uncertain future for Ducommun. They pay well, and that's the only thing that keeps employees from leaving."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Don't be fooled by the tempting salary offer. You WILL work many long days in an unpleasant factory."

What don't you like about working at Ducommun?

"It is a union shop, and therefore full of lazy workers with few good ones.Management does not enforce rules fairly or run the shop well. Many supervisors are incompetent and uneducated, and can barely write well. They need more techincal and communication skills. Not much potential for growth, many engineers are stuck in the same position for many years and must look elsewhere for growth. Most salaried employees are expected to work long days and even weekends without any extra compensation."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Wake up and get rid of the dead weight. Stop keeping people around that lack real ability to solve problems and manage employees.Take a look at leading aerospace manufacturers and follow their example."

Process Engineer at Crest Foam
in Moonachie, NJ

What do you like about working at Crest Foam?

"Processes were interesting and the atmosphere was in general laid back"

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Do thorough research. Ask questions about the work culture and environment. Ensure that management does it's part to ensure a safe work culture. The way I was treated at that company was unacceptable and the very least I can do now is to help ensure that it does not happen again to anyone else. While the old management and abusive co-worker are no longer there, I still need to use this platform to speak out about what happened and my denial of justice. If working there and someone says something to you that does not feel right or appropriate address it right away and document it."

What don't you like about working at Crest Foam?

"Had to deal with an abusive co-worker who bullied and belittled me. When I filed a grievance, management discouraged me from further pursuing it saying it should drop it and threatened to fire me if I didn't do so.Also, boss was often hostile and domineering. Made a lot of sarcastic and inappropriate remarks. The working environment was an extremely unprofessional one and there was no program or system in place to influence a positive and professional work culture."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Implement a program that holds people to a professional standard. While there is nothing wrong with being laid back, a work environment must still promote professionalism and respect among it's employees. Everyone should be entitled to a safe and healthy work environment. Also, instead of a superior blaming and yelling at employees, root cause analyses should be conducted to find the root cause of a problem because it may not be the employee who is at fault and could be a system or environment that contributes to negative behaviors and work habits."
