Working at Powers Distributing in Lake Orion, MI: 1 Employee Reviews

Account Manager

"I've worked for this company in years past. Management's number one goal is to squeeze as much additional work out of their employees by not offering compensation but withholding existing earnings. Multiple sales incentives are offered and then they never materialize or are revoked on a technicality. The idea of a mandatory company Christmas party consists of sitting in a folding chair for 2 hours listening to the president rant on the state of the company. Middle Management is caught between advocating the treatment of employees as human beings and getting their own bonuses yanked. When you're hired you're told you get holidays off but they fail to mention you will have to make them up by working before or after into the weekend. The vacation time you are allowed has to be taken consecutively and drafted only after everyone with more seniority takes first pick. Merchandising turnover is ever increasing as Powers pays less than industry average and do not provide work vehicles. You are expected to work far greater than 40+ hours a week and it is frowned upon when you do not. Suppliers often offer monetary incentives for accomplishments in the field which are pressured on the salesforce and then pocketed by the company. The company offers little to no morale. This place sucks. If you have a college degree venture elsewhere as you will never get an ROI on your education there. Take it from the VP whose dictator style leadership and personal being suggests education is not a factor in professional sales."
