Working at Powercode in Random Lake, WI: 1 Employee Reviews

Powercode Employee

"I worked for Powercode for about a year and a half. The knowledge and learning you'll get here are amazing, so if you're new and want to work in a place where you can streamline your knowledge and growth this is a good place to work for a year or two. This is a terrible place for long-term employment. The CEO spends maybe 5% of his time with the company and orders everyone around on insane and petty tasks. The communication from the CEO is terrible, and his general knowledge of software or his software company is almost nonexistent. He doesn't know the software or how to develop or push out applications but insists on micromanaging everything, forcing everyone to write reports to our manager who then forwards them to him in case he wants to "check-in". He'll "reward" you by making your salary (to not have to pay you overtime) and then expect you to put in an extra 10 hours a week. The amount of work is good, but he pushes unrealistic timelines and wants to "slam everything in the hole". The other guys there were great, and we stuck together as a team when the CEO comes around and yells at people or gets angry. Half the time he's yelling at us for doing stuff he told us to do. It's backward and frustrating. The company claims to have "great" benefits but falls just below average for primary coverage and is at the 1st percentile for family coverage (they don't cover your family at all). PTO is terrible, you don't get any and have to "earn" it by working there for a year - and after that, you only get 5 days. Hardware is decent, the workplace is fun when the CEO isn't around. We had some good laughs as a team. Good for a starting job but no one here lasts more than a year or two. Get out while you can."
