"Very high end academics. I was a researcher, so there was a lot of good work being performed."
What don't you like about working at University of Pennsylvania?
"I thought, compared to other places I have worked that PENN was a cold place. People lacked collegial spirit and I had little scientific discussion."

"It is based in a good community with a relatively strong healthcare system."

"Beware of the financial limitations of this institution"

"Limited opportunities, inadequate funding of research programs, lack of productive personnel and not enough emphasis put towards the graduate program and its students."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Promote the research programs by creating more opportunities for younger investigators. Shed existing unproductive faculty that do little more than teach a few classes."

"Not much."
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"Be very careful, as they do not support your professional growth. This is not only my experience, several other postdocs have reported similar experiences."
What don't you like about working at University of North Carolina?
"1) The project that I was supposed to do when I interviewed was just a way to lure me in the lab. 2) I was told that I could develop my own project, at my interview that my supervisor did not follow upon.3) My supervisor has the tendency of stealing ideas and let other people benefit from that. 4) I brought these issues up with the postdoctoral office, but they said that they could not do anything about it. 5) Never got an evaluation, even after requests. 6) I even spoke to the chair of the department about my supervisor, but he said that he could only talk to her and it was up to her to decide what to do."

"My boss did not have any clue about management."

"Being a post-doc requires long hours and low pay. Unfortunately, it has become a necessary evil for those going into the biological sciences."
