"I worked for Poly, formerly Polycom, for over 20 years. As the technological environment changed Polycom adapted third product and service offerings and the associated company resources to match market requirements. The company provided an excellent work environment and benefits package. The one thing that could use improvement is the opportunity to retrain for a different role as changes occurred. Other than that I found my work at Polycom engaging, fulfilling and beneficial to both myself and the organization."
"Polycom is a solid company to work for,. Very fair in dealing with employees/stakeholders for the company"
"The company management needs to do a much better job of communicating with the employees in the direction of the company."
"Nice company, great culture, skilled people."
"I worked for only a year at Polycom, but worked with the company as a partner for a decade previous to that. When I joined I found the environment good (above average). Recent changes at the executive level though have made the company unstable from an employment and strategic direction perspective."
"I have worked with the company for 2-years and the product base is great ... but ... I also think that the company would progress further with a review of not only the direct operational support to performance but management's direct support to performance."
"I worked at Polycom for one year in 2011 where the CTO was very supportive of my contributions, though due to financial irregularities in the new and shortfalls in revenue the company faltered and had to release several key staff as the CEO was dismissed."
"Led the Polycom wide effort to develop a PMO across all divisions and engineering functions to manage resources and funding to the product areas that provided the best long term value using Legato as an APM tool - identified need for company to shift from a HW based Engineering org to a SW based to address market shift from telepresence room systems to tablet solutions to address market competition."
"It is a very strong company with a fast paced work atmosphere."
"Loved the work. Hated the management."
What do you like about working at Polycom ?
"Very interesting technical work"
Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?
"The Cisco / Tandberg acquisition could have serious implications for Polycom. I don't believe that Polycom can compete with the strength of Cisco/Tandberg. Polycom is not competing well with just Tandberg. Cisco is a marketing giant."
What don't you like about working at Polycom ?
"Mangement is weak, spineless, lack foresite, work on projects that make little money for the company. The top managers are very greedy and well compensated. The workers haven't seen incentive stock options in years."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Develop a video bridge in Austin and phase out the products from the former Accord The endpoints and the bridges never work well together. Tandberg has killed Polycom in this area. The bridges and the endpoints need to be developed in Austin. -jjl"
