"I only worked here for 3 weeks as they were ramping up for a large project. The people are very friendly and the work environment is very pleasant. They are a think tank for government projects and ramp up and down quickly, so you need to keep pace."

What do you like about working at Physical Optics?

"New idea's are wellcomed"

What don't you like about working at Physical Optics?

What suggestions do you have for management?

Physical Optics Employee

"A good place to work if you get satisfaction from a job well done, but can stomach being micro-managed at odd moments."

What do you like about working at Physical Optics?

"There are really great people here. The camaraderie is awesome (especially among the awesome people (: ). The atmosphere is, generally, relatively relaxed and more focused on performance than fluff and back-patting. Peers are, for the most part, amiable and willing to get along with each other. Management is understanding within reason when issues come up and will work with you to adjust your schedule as needed."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Only 25% of the interview seems to be practical application, the rest is whether or not you are good at talking yourself up. If you're good at that, you get the job. Being good at your job and willing to learn FAST will help you keep the job."

What don't you like about working at Physical Optics?

"Rules that are not helpful to the actual progress or mindset of the employees are often imposed from those who seem lofty and unapproachable. It often seems that new procedures are just pulled out of hats because someone thought the idea was cute and they were bored on a Tuesday. Because of this seemingly careless attitude with regard to the subordinates, there is a feeling of unease and mistrust that permeates the ranks regarding people in authority."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Know, understand and appreciate what your employees do. If you don't know what they do, you can't possibly know whether or not someone is doing their job, who to promote, what to look for in new applicants, appropriate expectations or when your employees are being taken advantage of or wrongfully faulted. Respecting them as trustworthy adults capable of doing their jobs wouldn't be a bad idea either. Micro-managing is not only unnecessary, it causes the workers to begin to begrudge and resent which, in the end, affects the work itself."

Project Engineer

"Take it if you can't find jobs somewhere else or being desperate."

What do you like about working at Physical Optics?

"A project comes and goes fast so you can learn a lot if you are also fast and don't need a break."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Unless you have a written guarranty for a full time position; otherwise, it will end up much shorter then expected. After all things done, I feel that I should had waited a little bit longer to get a better job offer at other companies at beginning where a new engineer can have a proper mentorship for future growth. I am stuck with it for too long!"

What don't you like about working at Physical Optics?

"There is just very little time to finish the project. Basically, you are only allowed a couple of weeks to finish a 6 month project. Forget personal development while working here. Just work and work as much as you can, 12 hrs a day or more often. The upper management loves it. You don't see the sun during weekdays."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Should find way to promote personal development or employees will run away if they have a chance."
