"Having worked for the company 18 years and being promoted from Level 2 to Level 3 systems engineering years ago, my salary was in line with my responsibilities. As a technical manager, I supervised a team of seven Level 3 engineers and I was the technical manager for the government's program manager. I oversaw numerous RHEL, Solaris Unix, and Windows Server operating system upgrades, to include countless government-off-the-shelf software installs. As the technical lead, I was responsible for developing and delivering technical plans to our government customer, as well as ensuring those plans minimized system downtime and followed important engineering concepts. It was also my responsibility to ensure the government customer was satisfied with the level and quality of technical expertise they were getting from the Harris/Peraton engineering team. Those responsibilities certainly warranted the $107K salary and I was very satisfied the company recognized my expertise and experience with the proper salary compensation. The only reason I left my employer is because they no longer had work available in my local area."

"The salary is low for other engineers in the LA area, but since I am based in Dahlgreen, Virginia, I feel it is pretty well. Granted, I was originally an employee at Northrop Grumman but had to move due to the acquisition. Additionally, the work-life balance is amazing."
