"The pay of 13.50 was fair as starting pay, but the lack of raises posed an issue for me. There were automated raises of $0.26/hr that came into effect at the beginning of every year, but anything more than that had to be heavily negotiated in order to receive it. I believe starting pay is higher now, but other hotels surely pay more. On the bright side, it is possible to make commission based off of upgrading guests' rooms (20% of the total upgrade cost), but this depends on occupancy. When the hotel is full (which it is during most of the summer), there are little to no opportunities to sell said upgrades."
