"I did not like the constant conflict between city planning and the reps."

"Don't be stuffy, take things as they happen, be honest and see what happens. They tend to hire more on how much they like you instead of cred that you bring, though you do need cred as well."

"Loose management, a little too unstructured but I also value flexibility so wasn't too disliking of that"

"Should pay a little more attention to employees not working at corporate HQ"

"Make sure you do everything to get your Regional Manager or Regional Sales Manager and Service Center Manager to like as it is a popularity contest. The good ole boy system exists there."
What don't you like about working at Con-way?
"Center Managers would get bad audits and they would transfer before this and would not be held accountable for the past service center they left.........I know of at least 3 Service Center managers who got promoted but after they left the audits showed they did poor job. Regional Managers were out of touch with there terminals. They had a few terminals that they would spend most of there time at. Setting up Pricing for a customer was way to hard. To many process to arrange for customer pricing. The NMFC Book is a joke. All the Truck lines want it to stay because it is too hard for customers to understand. This in turn allows the truck lines to re class frt and charge more money."
What suggestions do you have for management?
"Keep up with the other carriers...............Allow sales to compete with one acct a month to gain market share. Bring Operations and Sales closer together. It is always a internal fight and sometimes they loose focus that the customer is the reason we were in business."

"Working with both the customers and the employees and the Vacation incentives you could earn. I have gone to Cancun, Cabo, Jamaica and Myrtle Beach on all inclusive vactions."

"Great people, poor pay structure. I started with them when they owned the Owens Corning Basement Sytem and did great. They then bought the window world franchise and dumped the basement system when OC required them to stock a Quarter of a million dollars of inventory."

"Tough way to make money. Poor commissions and I paid expenses. Hard at the time to maintain a family of 5"

"I paid all of the gas expenses and wear and tear on my vehicle. Although I was able to use it as a tax deduction that only covers a small amount."

"Difficult working environment. Management was not willing to work with/train employees to benefit the company. I was lied to about the need for Spanish speaking capabilities."

"Place yourself in the shoes of the employees. The added pressure is not needed and hinders the growth of employees."

"Prior to new General Manager/ Sales Manager, there was virtually no local sales or design support available to the sales staff. Unfortunately, most employees felt frustrated due to the extremely negative atmosphere that was created by the GM."

"Branch GM was recently replaced. New manager, Joel Norberg, is making tremendous improvements in the sales, project management and installation departments that were severly lacking prior to his placement."
