"I enjoyed the day to day assistance with new and returning customers, and enjoyed meeting new people. I have helped a range of people ranging from a small family, to the elderly, celebrities and small companies. I have traveled to many places. Learning on the job and exploring different environments was the most fun. The worst thing is going to a site without all the proper tools or information of the problem. However, new problems lead to new solutions for the future."

"Onsite Technician is definitely a good starting job for a person freshly out of college but there is not much opportunity in my department to grow, so I'm looking for a new change and opportunity to learn something challenging."

What do you like about working at SterilMed?

"Educating medical staff on the benefits of recycling and reducing the waste stream."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"Document everything, especially your hours worked for the week. Management will consistently ask you to work more than 40 hours a week, but will not compensate you for overtime. Management will have you drive to different regions to cover for other staff and try not compensate you for the full amount of miles traveled for company business. If you are looking for a company who values its employees, this is not the place for you. During my 3+ years at Sterilmed, the company changed ownership/policy/pay rates/reimbursement rates/mileage allowances, 3 times. Most recently they were purchased by Johnson & Johnson, so I fully expect the parent company to provide consistency moving forward. Since J&J has a high score on the corporate equality index, I expect same sex domestic partner (Spousal) benefits to be implemented at SterilMed, to align this company with J&J's diversity policies."

What don't you like about working at SterilMed?

"It is an absolute must to document EVERY interaction with supervisors and management, including email, phone calls, and face to face encounters. This is also true when dealing with Human Resources and Payroll. I personally experienced being lied to by several people at Sterilmed in a position of leadership, saying that they had requested something on my behalf or looked into something for me, when in fact they had not. The atmosphere created by such people has taught a valuable lesson... Cover your @ss, and VERIFY what you're being told."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"I would immediately change company policy regarding employee benefits to allow GLBT staff to include same sex domestic partners on their company sponsored benefits. SterilMed's current policy is discriminatory. I would also allow staff to complete performance evaluations on their managers and supervisors to foster an atmosphere of open communication of expectations, needs, and areas of improvement."
