What do you like about working at OneAmerica?

"Relatively nice people. Flexible schedule. Decent salary and benefits and on-site health clinic. Stable company financially."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"If you're thinking of going to work for the web solutions group, reconsider. Not a good place to work!"

What don't you like about working at OneAmerica?

"10-15 years behind the times with regards to the web and IT. A overabundance of middle managers means every meeting breeds two more and nothing can ever get accomplished. Lots of talk about updating their web presence, but no $$ behind the words to update systems and provide new staff with the tools needed to do their job. Customers are starting to recognize the lack of options available to do business with OneAmerica on the web. This will eventually hurt the company in a big way. If you are an IT professional looking to forward your career, this is not a good place to do it. Most of the web solutions staff is tenured (12-15 years+) and only versed on maintaining the antiquated systems used by the company. Progress is minimal and slow.....and it isn't changing any time soon. Web solutions management is absent and not supportive of the changes needed. Very political climate and frustratingly stifled."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Do your business a favor and outsource your web development and maintenance areas. The current staff is full of old-timers who do not have the skills or drive to move your business forward on the web. There is no leadership in this department and change is seen as a threat. As the business grows, competitors are going to eat your lunch with regards to web capabilities. Customers demand better, and not being able to deliver will be your downfall."
