"I worked for Nordstrom for 10 years. In the end, there were some younger managerial types cutting their leadership teeth on the folks beneath them. The management policy is that the manager supports the team, but that's not how it works in real life. I would not recommend this company to anyone whose friendship I valued. The common experience is better than mine, but I wouldn't buy the hype about it being a great place to work, it's just another corporate atmosphere with a ton of H1B employees."

"The company as a whole is great, they really will go out of their way to listen to workers needs and help them any way they can. The only issues I have is that the people in HQ (Seattle) don't really feel the pain of the Denver IT team and they often don't see how hard we are working to keep up with everything."

What do you like about working at Nordstrom?

"The customers are really awesome. For the most part, they're always pleasant to deal with because they are having that Nordstrom experience."

Do you have any tips for others interviewing with this company?

"What sold me on Nordstrom is they said we value our employees, but at the very end it was all about sales. Period... or the more you sell, the bigger your paycheck. If you spend maybe 60 to 80 hours a week, when do have time to have a life And once you're tired, I mean really tired, it's on to the next person."

What don't you like about working at Nordstrom?

"All of HR, except for one, will not help you. If there was a pill to kill a bug up your bum, they should take it. The leadership is for the most part fake. It's all about the sales, and if you can't meet your quota, then you're OUT."

What suggestions do you have for management?

"Be more original, engaged, and genuine."
